HENRY LAW

A dawn chorus in a silicon jungle. As a founder member and one half of ‘Yimino’, Henry’s haunting, ethereal, yet playful electronics helped shape the sound of the cult Electronica band in the early 2000s up until now. Having existed below the radar since inception - possibly due to shunning the awkward nature of live electronic music and instead focusing on recorded music - Yimino returned this year (2018) with a new album, ‘Æng’, of abstract, ambient, floaty electronics.

Having spent the last four years working alongside filmmakers and podcasters, aiding the storytelling process through sound and music, Henry has found himself more concerned with narrative and is now searching new ways in which to present his ideas. He is currently working on the concept of an “audio animation” and a “sound portrait” where he asks subjects about phenomena like auditory memories. He then takes sections out of context to form strange stories, all set to his trademark spacious music.

DEAD LOVE FEAR WAVE

Bringing together a vast array of influences from a wide range of media it would be absurd to try and pigeon-hole DeadLoveFearWave. “We didn’t talk about inspirations at the start of the project, we both knew the idea of sounds rather than specifics, but during the process we did find inspiration in unusual places”, Citing the work of writer William S. Burroughs, lyrically narrative style of Tom Waits, the non-linear recording approach of Beck’s early work, the synthesis of 808 State, vocals of Ian Brown, guitar of Bert Jansch are just a few of the influences heard in DeadLoveFearWave’s music. “These were the inspirations, personal and political, quite an uncomfortable mix, but in the end, wholly satisfying.” say the duo.
